Ready Steady Start
Are you currently involved in establishing a new group? Or has your organisation been established recently?
Ready Steady Start (RSS) will equip you with the basic skills needed to start setting up a sustainable organisation. It will also encourage you to consider if setting up an organisation is the right path for your group.
Who is it for?
The RSS course welcomes new and small voluntary and community BAMER (Black Asian Minority Ethnic and Refugee) groups wishing to:
- Understand how to go about setting up or developing an organisation and
- Network with others in similar situations
What’s on offer?
A FREE 4 day interactive training course delivered by experienced staff from Advice UK, BTEG, LVSC, Refugee Council and two consultants who are specialists in their field:
Step 1 - Setting up a sustainable organisation
22nd October 2008 10:30-4:00pm
Introduces London's diverse voluntary sector. Explores some of the challenges involved in setting up an organisation. Provides an opportunity to clarify the aims and objectives of your organisation.
Step 2 - Project Development
23rd October 2008 1:30-4:30pm
Provides initial steps in planning a project. Explores the role of research in identifying need and in project development.
Step 3 - Governance
29th October 2008 1:30-4:30pm
Explores governance issues and the importance of financial management. Outlines the roles and responsibilities of the management committee and key officers.
Step 4 - New to Fundraising
30th October 2008 1:30-4:30pm
Introduces some of the basics of fundraising. Explores what is involved in developing a fundraising strategy.
Selection Criteria
RSS is open to new or recently established groups. We are keen to hear from you, particularly if your group is:
· Representing the interests of black, asian, minority ethnic, refugee or other marginalised communities.
· Operating in more than one London borough.
· Interested in enhancing their organisational development.
Priority is given to groups who can send two representatives to the course. Representatives must be committed to attending all the sessions.
