LVSC has been recording examples and
research on funding cuts to VCS organisations sine April 2010 in a
working document that is continually being updated. The most recent
updated document, covering April 2011- January 2012, does
not claim to be comprehensive but contains specific examples of VCS
services cut analysed by borough and sub-sector, together with a
summary of relevant research and surveys.
The impact of the Government's new Work
Programme on London's voluntary and community sector providers and
the unemployed people they support is explained in more detail on
our Work Programme in London
webpage.
LVSC worked with the other eight English
regional voluntary and community sector (VCS) networks, as Regional
Voices, to conduct research for Skills Third Sector on VCS
workforce development support and training.
The first national report was published
in June 2011 and information on organisations in London
was updated in November 2011.

LVSC's research on the impact of the
recession on voluntary and community sector groups in London and
the people they work with, has produced its third yearly report

Following our research on the impact of the
Government's Work Programme in London, LVSC concluded that it was
likely to worsen employment inequalities in the capital. This work
received considerable press coverage, following our
press release detailing the findings.
LVSC was one of a number of voluntary and
community sector (VCS) organisations, including NCVO and the
British Red Cross that were signatories to a letter to the Times
expressing concern about the future of public service delivery by
the VCS, as a result of proposals in the Open Public Services White
Paper.
LVSC commented on how the VCS was engaged
following the August riots in London in a Guardian
article.
The findings of LVSC's third Big Squeeze
report were widely reported in both mainstream and specialist
voluntary and community sector media, coverage can be viewed
on our press coverage pages.
LVSC's Head of Policy was involved in
a June 2011 Guardian live
discussion on the barriers to volunteering and social
action.
