The London Mayoral and Assembly
elections took place on 3rd May 2012.
Boris Johnson was re-elected as Mayor
of London and the London Assembly
elections resulted in an Assembly composed of 12 Labour, 9
Conservative, 2 Green and 2 Liberal Democrat party members.
Jeanette Arnold (Labour) has been appointed Chair and Darren
Johnson (Green) Deputy Chair of the London Assembly.
The Mayor has recently
appointed:
Assembly Member, Kit Malthouse, as
Deputy Mayor for Business
Assembly Member, James Cleverly, as
Chair of the London Fire and Emergency Planning
Authority
Leader of LB Hammersmith &
Fulham, Stephen Greenhalgh, as Chair of the Mayor's Office for
Policing and Crime (an appointment that needs to approved by the
London Assemb;y's Police & Crime Committee).
LVSC through its Policy Forum has
worked to involve London's voluntary and community sector in the
elections by arranging roundtable events with three of the Mayoral
election candidates:
Jenny Jones - Green
Brian Paddick - Liberal
Democrat
Ken Livingstone - Labour
and with the Deputy Mayor, Richard
Barnes - Conservative.
We used these discussions to develop a set
of asks for London Mayoral candidates from London's voluntary and
community sector

impressions from the roundtable. She states that the sector 'needs
funding not cuts' and includes the following quote:

London Assembly members to follow up on prgress towards the asks we
developed before the election.
